Volunteers! Oh yes, we need them!
We are lucky in that we have many dedicated, reliable volunteers, but we are a 24/7 transitional rooming house so there are still many areas where we desperately need help. We provide complete training so don't worry about not having a clue about homeless shelters.
Here is a list of areas we need help in. Maybe you can see one that you feel comfortable in. The only thing we can guarantee is you will not be bored. ECHO house is a lively place.
a. Coming in for several hours to help the staff with their duties. This can mean anything from answering the phone to checking the date labels on the food in the fridge.
b. Providing some daycare time by reading to young children at ECHO House.
c. Administrative, bookkeeping, and database work.
d. Job counseling.
e. Independent shift volunteer. This can only be achieved with in depth training and on the job experience. However, it is very rewarding to achieve this level of expertise.
f.Helping students with their homework.
g. Special expertise. You know your skills. Give us a buzz.
